A twisted convoluted story of espionage and counterintelligence. It is a journey to the last decade of the Cold War through the eyes of the "traitor and the spy" that delivers a refresher on the mastery of the Reagan-Thatcher alliance and how they helped Gorbachev free the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
The level of detail which leaves the reader wondering how much is true or fantasy, very much how we might envision living a double life might look like.
It also shows a personal side of what life undercover looks like and how tearing and lasting emotional damage can be to the spy's personal life. At times it reminded me of the challenges and struggles Pino went through in Beneath a Scarlet Sky I read earlier this year.
